About UK Bank Holidays
UK bank holidays are public holidays set by the government. England and Wales, Scotland, and Northern Ireland each have their own set of bank holidays — they do not all share the same dates. Substitute bank holidays
When a bank holiday falls on a Saturday or Sunday, a substitute weekday bank holiday is given in its place. For example, Boxing Day 2026 falls on a Saturday, so the substitute bank holiday is Monday 28 December 2026. Christmas Day 2026 falls on a Friday, so no substitute is needed.
