What time do A-level results come out?

Results are usually available from around 8am UK time, but each school or college sets its own collection time and method (in person, email or a student portal), so check with yours before the day. Your UCAS Hub is usually updated on results morning, often before you collect your results slip.

Clearing and your next steps

  • Got the grades you needed. Your place normally shows as confirmed in your UCAS Hub. Contact the university if anything looks wrong.
  • Narrowly missed your offer. Check UCAS Hub before assuming the worst: universities sometimes confirm places on slightly lower grades, and your insurance choice may confirm you instead.
  • Not placed. UCAS Clearing lets you apply for courses that still have places, and you can use it on results day. UCAS publishes the exact Clearing dates each year.
  • Better grades than expected. UCAS Adjustment no longer exists, so looking elsewhere means Clearing. If you hold an unconditional firm place, "Decline my place" releases you into Clearing, but it cannot be undone and you also lose your insurance place. Speak to your school and the university first.
  • Think a grade is wrong. Ask your school or college about a review of marking or an appeal through the exam board. There are deadlines, and your centre makes the request, so raise it early.
