Calculated exactly, to the second, with no rounding: for example 1 h 45 min with 25% extra time is 2 h 11 min 15 s. Finish times are plain clock times on the day. Whether a candidate is entitled to extra time, and how much, is decided by their school or college under the JCQ access arrangements rules; this calculator only does the arithmetic.

How the revision timer works

Each round is a study session followed by a short break. After the number of rounds you choose, the break is longer. With the defaults that is 25 minutes of study and 5 minutes of rest, with a 15-minute break after every fourth session.

When a session ends, a short two-note chime plays and the next one starts by itself. Untick Start the next session automatically if you would rather the timer stop and wait for you. Skip moves straight to the next session.

The timer works from the clock, so it stays right if you switch tabs; phones and browsers can delay sounds from background tabs, so keep the tab open for on-time chimes. Your lengths and sound choice are saved in this browser only.
